Hopper brought valuable insight and pulled from her deep well of knowledge of the visual arts many references that she found personally relevant to my work. She helped to point out things in my own work I was struggling to see and gave me a bit of fresh direction - a path to continue down. My 1:1 session with Tatiana was immensely helpful. She assisted me with providing tips on how to organize my website by pointing out the images that had a consistent theme, and ruling out the weakest ones. I now have a clearer idea on how to continue with my photographic vision as she was able to pinpoint the elements on not just what I tend to photograph but why. My session with Tatiana was just what I needed. I had questions about using a Mamiya 7 with flash but had analysis paralysis. Too scared to waste film, too niche a subject to discuss with friends. My time with Tatiana answered a lot of questions and she provided me with information and references to related topics I hadn’t considered. She’s a wealth of knowledge and super professional. Talking about your work with others is an invaluable experience for any artist, and Tatiana was an excellent reviewer for all things photography. Her love and knowledge of the medium really shined through in my 1-2-1 review session, where she recommended multiple photographers, and film-makers, that I should take a look at, and whose work really resonated with me. She brought a curious attitude to the session, which gave me an opportunity to make more sense of my own work, and share with her some of my own inspirations as well. She came well prepared with talking points and questions, but was fluid and flexible with the direction our session went. It was a back-and-forth conversation, that truly felt more like a friendship than presenting a body of work to someone for the first time. As an amateur photographer, this was an awesome experience. Once I finished geeking out, Tatiana helped me put several ideas together for a photo essay I want to create. We discussed some obstacles I have regarding what I want to capture for the project. Tatiana gave me so many things to think about on how to creatively approach the topic. It was a refreshing experience. I walked away feeling a new confidence, like we were old friends having a creative session from across the Atlantic. It was educational, warm and quite awesome.
